Summer Houseboat Trip

I am still sick.

Still.

I can't seem to shake this cold, no matter how much sleep I get.

I'm getting ready to lay down on the floor, cry, and kick my legs in a temper tantrum.

Plus, She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, who lives for the sole purpose of torturing me, has got my panties all worked up in knot.

Again.

SO.

Instead of dwelling and seething and wasting all kinds of energy being angry or feeling sorry for myself, I am going to write a happy post!

About something we did this summer!

Remember summer?

Once upon a time, on a beautiful, warm, sunny day - Steve and I were invited along with a group of my parents' friends to take a houseboat trip!

It was a riot!

We had delicious food, plentiful drinks, and wonderful company.

I've probably mentioned it before, but my mom and dad are very lucky to have a wonderful group of friends...and now I am even luckier to count them as my friends too.

What a great group of people.

Here are some pics!

Heading up into Voyageurs National Park...boys at the front, girls in the back...just the way we like it!

Steve and my dad, lounging at the front of the boat...

My mom, Jan, and Vicki smiling big for the camera!

Me and my dad...

Spontaneous dance parties started to break out...

Um....er.....there are no words. Don't ask. I have no idea how Gale came across a giant, penis shaped balloon. I don't want to know.

Me and my mommy...

Too soon, the sun started to set and it was time to make our way back.

Our fearless navigators...Jim, Mark, Terry, Steve and Cal

And last but not least...

Thanks Mark and Sue for inviting us! We had an awesome time!

What a beautiful day!

What a beautiful summer!

And now, if Tara would only send me some pictures from canoeing the Brule for her going away party (ahem...hee hee)...I think that would get me caught up through Labor Day weekend.

I hope everyone is having a great week!

  3. Yes, so far plans for MN are as follows:
    1. Thanksgiving Weekend in Minneapolis
    2. May for Goldy and Mangan's wedding reception.
    3. 2 weeks in July for Cal and Lyndi's wedding.

I'm glad you're feeling better! I love reading your blog! It makes me want to go home and cook a ton. I told Pete the other day that I was going to try one of your recipes! I don't think he knows how or where I go it because it looked at me like I was a nut job. But really that is an everday occurance in my house.

And I am so excited for HI I can barely contain myself!!! Next trip we'll ALL have to go!! Now that would be some fun times!!!

  4. I figured since I also stalk your blog because I feel like I need a connection to MN (sometimes I feel a little left out) and this is where I find it! Anyway:
    1) Crazy bi-otch should just disappear.
2)I should have been on that houseboat.
    3) I think Gale's balloon is actually a worm. But if you want to think penis that's fine.
    4) I am SO excited for us to be officially sisters in July!

  6. LOL - you ladies crack me up - I miss both of you very much!

Kendra - I don't think I will get a chance to see you on your first 2 visits to MN :( but of course I will see you next summer for the wedding! Yay! Let me know if you try any of the recipes...I like feedback (even if you thought it was yucky). And Steve and I will for sure have to join you all next time! That would be a blast!!!

Lyndi - I'm glad that the blog makes you feel a MN connection and I'm sorry that you feel left out :( I can't wait until you move back!!! As a side note, I love lists!! Ok, here we go:
    1. YES - she should disappear. But unfortunately, she probably will torture me until the end of time. I love that you got the HP reference, by the way :)
    2. You are totally right. I'm sorry. Next year!!!
    3. Why would it be a worm? And how do you know this? Even if it wasn't a penis, you know that everyone was acting like it was :) lol
    4. ME TOO!!! I am excited for the wedding! You need to keep me updated on progress - I'm totally out of the loop. I am a bad sister-in-training...I need to call you more often. I will, soon.

    Love you ladies!
